I live in Bossier City, Louisiana - USA. - Upon the recent discovery that Soumas is Greek - I am searching for the possible origin of my Soumas surname and it's findings of how it possibly got to south Louisiana. My grandfather's name was Charles James Soumas - he was a chef on a Merchant Marine ship and had sailed around the world at least 3-4 times in his life. Charles James Soumas married Ollie Pasty Wooten (Soumas) and to thier union they had 5 children - one of them being my father - Clyde A. Soumas, Sr. - Upon my search I have been finding out that there were many Greek immigrants that came to the ports of New Orleans and many thought they were of mixed heritage.
